How to read this article. Statements marked Documented by Faire come from Faire's own public help pages and blog, linked inline. Statements marked General marketplace practice are widely used marketplace SEO habits that Faire has not published as ranking factors.
Faire SEO is the work of making your products easy for the right retailers to find inside Faire search and category browsing. It is not about tricks. It is about describing products in the words buyers use, in the places Faire reads.
What Faire has documented about search
Documented by Faire. Faire says it matches a retailer's search terms against the words in your product title, description, product type and category, and that exact matches are prioritised, with synonyms and related items shown after them (Faire Help Center).
Documented by Faire. Ranking then draws on three broad groups of signals: product names, descriptions and categories; the retailer's own past activity and engagement; and brand performance, which includes product conversion, review rating, return rate, order cancellations and fulfillment timing (Faire Help Center).
Documented by Faire. Results are personalised to each retailer, so searching for your own products will not show you what a retailer sees (Faire Help Center).
That last point matters. Checking your "position" by searching yourself tells you very little.
Step 1: Build a list of buyer words
General marketplace practice. Before editing anything, list the words a store owner would type for each product: the product type ("taper candle", not "illumination piece"), material, scent or flavour, colour, size and occasion. Look at how comparable products are named in the categories you sell in, and note the plain terms that repeat.
Keep this list in a simple spreadsheet next to each product. It becomes the reference for every title and description you write.
Step 2: Rewrite titles first
Documented by Faire. Faire describes product titles as the strongest ranking signal and recommends roughly 35 to 60 characters, leading with the words buyers would search for, and avoiding unrelated keywords (Faire SEO checklist; Faire Help Center).
A useful pattern is: product type + key attribute + variant. For example, "Soy Wax Taper Candles, Set of 4, Sage" says more to search and to a buyer than "Evening Ritual".
Step 3: Make descriptions answer questions
A description should confirm what the title promises and add what a retailer needs before ordering: materials, dimensions, pack size, how it is used, who it suits and how it can be displayed. Documented by Faire: Faire recommends including the relevant information a retailer would want before purchasing, along with key descriptive words (Faire Help Center).
Step 4: Check product types and categories
Documented by Faire. Product type and category are part of the text Faire matches against, and Faire encourages accurate tagging (Faire blog). A product filed in the wrong category may simply not appear where buyers browse.
Step 5: Remember performance
Because brand performance is part of ranking, SEO on Faire does not stop at wording. Accurate listings reduce returns, clear photos support conversion, and reliable fulfillment protects the performance signals Faire describes. Listing work and operations support each other.
What we deliberately avoid
We do not repeat keywords, add unrelated terms, or claim to know weightings Faire has not published. Faire itself says it uses more than 100 factors and changes its model over time (Faire Help Center).
