Merchandising on Faire is how you organise and present your range so retailers can understand it quickly and buy a sensible first order. Good merchandising makes a catalog feel like a considered collection, not a list.

1. Define your range structure

Group products into a small number of clear ranges or categories. For each range, decide:

  • Hero products: the ones that best represent the brand and that you can reliably supply.
  • Core products: dependable sellers that fill out an order.
  • Add ons: smaller items that help a retailer reach a minimum or complete a display.

2. Build collections the way retailers shop

Retailers shop by category, season, occasion and display. Useful collection types:

  • By product type ("Candles", "Diffusers").
  • By season or occasion ("Holiday gifting", "Summer outdoor").
  • By starter order ("Best for first orders").
  • By range or scent family.

Documented by Faire. Faire recommends creating seasonal collections as part of keeping your shop relevant (Faire Help Center).

3. Order matters

Put hero products and current seasonal lines first. Move out of season or low stock products down or out. Retailers form an impression from the first few rows.

4. Make first orders easy

Think about what a new retailer can realistically order to test your brand. Clear pack sizes, a mix of price points and add on items make it easier to reach a minimum without over committing. Documented by Faire: Faire notes retailers often filter by minimum order amount and suggests balancing minimums against margin and shipping (Faire Help Center).

5. Show the product in context

Include at least one styled or in store style image for key products so a retailer can picture it on their shelf. Show packaging and display units if you have them.

6. Keep the catalog tidy

  • Remove or mark discontinued items.
  • Keep naming consistent across a range ("Sage Taper Candle, Set of 4" and "Rose Taper Candle, Set of 4").
  • Avoid duplicate listings of the same product.

Documented by Faire: Faire recommends listing your complete catalog, which it links to a better retailer experience (Faire Help Center). Complete and tidy go together.

7. Plan merchandising by season

Set a quarterly routine:

1. Choose the season's hero products. 2. Refresh the seasonal collection and titles (Faire Help Center). 3. Reorder collections so current lines come first. 4. Tell existing retailers what is new.

Merchandising and listings together

Merchandising decides what retailers see and in what order. Listings decide whether they order once they look. See our product listing guide for the listing side.
